The conference brought together research scholars, academicians, legal luminaries, and students.
Vadodara: Navrachana University, the region’s premier multi-disciplinary private university, organised a National Conference on Law and Policy on Friday in an attempt to understand the innate relationship between law and public policy through various contemporary themes and sub-themes.
Organised by the university’s School of Business and Law, the conference was inaugurated by former Supreme Court judge Justice CK Thakkar, Dr. Mohan Dewan, Principal at RK Dewan and Co, Navrachana University Provost Prof Pratyush Shankar, Associate Dean Dr. Hitesh Bhatia, and Principal of Law Dr. Sujata Patil.
“Public policy must be dynamic for it to pave the way for the development of new laws,” Dr. Sujata Patil said in the welcome address, explaining the objective of the national conference.
In his address, Justice CK Thakkar said, “The shift of the Supreme Court’s approach from strict to the harmonious interpretation of Constitutional provisions has made a remarkable contribution to the development of public policy. Public policy is part and parcel of the legal system, and hence an attempt to study the innate relationship of Law and Public policy is the necessity of the day.”
Dr. Mohan Dewan, a well-known expert in IR rights, said, “Law and public policies are dynamic in nature and should adapt themselves to the changing times to stay relevant”.
A technical session of paper presentations followed the inaugural session. Around 50 research scholars, academicians, and students from reputed institutes presented their research papers on contemporary areas at the session.
Dr. Archana Gadekar, associate professor at MS University Baroda, Navin Sinha from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, Garima Goswami from Gujarat National Law University and Dr. Priyanka Behrani from Navrachana University were the resource persons for the technical session.
The valedictory session was chaired by Vishal Gadhvi, Secretary at District Legal Service Secretary. He spoke about the importance of public policy in further supplementing legal awareness.
Research papers presented by MauliGopesh and Manasi Verma from Gujarat National Law University and Dr. Devanshu Shrivastava from Jagran Lakecity University in Bhopal were selected for the best research paper awards.
The conference was a grand success in achieving its objective of facilitating healthy interactions on contemporary developments, knowledge sharing and networking.
